How our loan request works

One secure request reaches several lenders in our network. You compare any offers by total cost and decide, with no fee and no obligation.

01

Step 1: Check the basics

Most lenders in our network require that you are at least 18 (19 in Alabama and Nebraska), have a steady source of income, a checking account in your name, a valid email address and a working phone number. Some lenders have minimum income levels or do not lend in every state.

Our eligibility checklist lists the details lenders commonly verify. Having recent pay stubs or bank statements ready can speed up a lender's review.

02

Step 2: Submit one request

Complete our secure form with the amount you need, the purpose, your contact details, income and bank information. The form takes about five minutes and is sent over an encrypted connection.

Your request goes to lenders and lending partners in our network, which may include state-licensed lenders and tribal lending entities. Submitting a request is free and does not obligate you to accept anything. Some lenders may check your credit, which can include a hard inquiry.

Step 3: Review offers

Lenders review your request and decide whether to make an offer. If a lender can help, you will see the offer on screen or be contacted by the lender directly with its loan amount, APR, fees, term and payment schedule.

You may receive one offer, several or none. Offers depend on your state, credit, income and each lender's criteria. Some lenders may ask for documents, such as a pay stub or ID, before finalizing an offer.

04

Step 4: Compare and decide

Compare offers by APR and total of payments, not only by the monthly payment. A longer term lowers the payment but usually raises the total cost. Our personal loan calculator can check any offer's numbers.

Read the full loan agreement, including the Truth in Lending disclosure, governing law, arbitration and prepayment terms. You are never obligated to accept an offer, and you can close the page at any point.

05

Step 5: Sign and receive funds

If you accept an offer, you sign the agreement directly with the lender. Funds are usually deposited into your checking account within one to two business days; some lenders can fund the same business day if you sign before their cutoff time.

After funding, your loan relationship is with the lender. Payments, payoff quotes and hardship requests go to the lender named in your agreement.

What we do and do not do

Direct Tribal Loans operates the request form, the network of lending partners and the guides on this site. We do not make credit decisions, fund loans, set rates or collect payments.

Lenders may pay us when a request is submitted or a loan is funded. Our advertiser disclosure explains how that compensation works and how it can affect the offers you see.
