Advertiser and lending disclosure
How our free service is paid for, how we work with lenders and lending partners, and what that means for the offers you see.
We are not a lender
Direct Tribal Loans is not a lender, loan broker or agent of any lender. We do not make credit decisions, fund loans, set rates or terms, or collect payments. We operate a free loan request service and publish educational guides.
When you submit a request, your information is shared with lenders and lending partners in our network so they can decide whether to make you an offer. Any loan you accept is made by the lender named in your loan agreement.
How we are paid
Our service is free for borrowers. Lenders and lending partners pay us a fee when a request is submitted to them or when a loan is funded. The amount can vary by partner, by loan amount and by state.
This compensation can affect which partners are in our network and the order or way in which offers are presented. It does not affect the APR or terms a lender offers you; those are set by the lender based on its own criteria.
Tribal lending partners
Some lenders in our network are tribal lending entities owned by federally recognized Native American tribes. These lenders state that their loans are governed by tribal law and applicable federal law, not the law of your state.
Loans from tribal lenders may carry APRs higher than state-licensed lenders, and disputes may be subject to tribal arbitration. Read the governing law and arbitration sections of any agreement before signing. Our guide on Indian reservation loans explains these terms.
Rates, terms and representative example
Loan amounts in our network typically range from $500 to $5,000 with terms of 3 to 48 months. APRs vary widely by lender, state and credit, from under 36% with some state-licensed lenders to several hundred percent with some tribal and short-term lenders.
Representative example: a $1,000 loan repaid over 12 monthly payments at 35.99% APR costs about $100.46 a month, for a total of about $1,205.49, including $205.49 of interest. At 199% APR the same loan costs about $197.10 a month and $2,365.17 in total. See our rates guide for more examples.
No guarantee of an offer
Submitting a request does not guarantee that you will receive an offer or a loan. Lenders decide based on their own criteria, including income, bank history, credit and state of residence. Loan availability, amounts and terms vary by state.
Some lenders may verify information with consumer reporting agencies, which may include a hard credit inquiry. Late or missed payments can lead to fees, collection activity and negative credit reporting.
Our editorial independence
Lenders and partners do not write, review or approve our guides before publication. Our editors decide what to cover and how, and our guides often recommend lower-cost options that pay us nothing, such as credit union loans or local assistance programs.
Lender names on our compare lenders page are included for information. A listing is not an endorsement and does not mean the lender is in our network.
